The Ad-lib Prize is a prize celebrating improvisation in the performing arts.

The prize is awarded to an individual who has made significant contributions to the art of improvised theatre. The recipient is celebrated at a special event where they are the guest of honor, and episodes from their life is interpreted by a team of skilled improvisers.

The 2019 Ad-lib Prize is awarded to Helge Skoog.

Helge Skoog receives the Ad-lib award for being an influential early voice of improvised theatre in Sweden. His playful behavior on stage and television has inspired generations of Swedish improvisers. Helge Skoog is the grandfather of Swedish impro.

Helge is a well known actor in Sweden. He started his career at The Royal Dramatic Theatre in Stockholm and Stockholm City Theatre, where he also founded Klara Soppteater that quickly became a forum for innovative performing arts with everything from improvised theatre to science theatre on the agenda.

After meeting Keith Johnstone in 1983, Helge took part in Theatresports at Stockholm City Theatre and in the television program of the same name.

Broader audiences know Helge for his role as Ture Sventon on television, his participation in the television panel show Parlamentet, and in radio on På Minuten.
